The pair have seemingly indirectly exchanged words publicly… if you can stretch a J-Lo’s pretty cagey interview that way
J-Lo has snapped back in a kind of civil, but indirect way after her estranged husband heaped praise on her.
Both Jennifer Lopez and her former lover Ben Affleck are working on the same movie together – I’m pretty sure they planned to do so when they were happily married… because they certainly aren’t happy at the minute.
Lopez filed for divorce with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’, back in August – soon after, it was heard that Affleck didn’t attend the 55-year-old’s birthday party, which featured a host of celebrities.
But now, with the pair having worked together on sports drama Unstoppable, which is based on a true story, they have exchanged words somewhat indirectly.
Affleck and Matt Damon are the two of the producers of the film which stars Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Don Cheadle, and, of course, Lopez.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Monday (November 4), he talked about the pool of ‘really talented artists’ on the roster.
He said: “Billy Goldenberg and Jennifer and, you know, Don Cheadle and Jharrel and Bobby Cannavale – all of whom were really passionate about this film and then got to know Anthony and Judy, and the relationship with them, and the passion they had to bring this story to life.
“Again, it kind of speaks to a certain kind of thing I guess we’re drawn to which is, we really believe in the power of storytelling when the people involved in it are deeply, emotionally connected to the story.”
Before adding: “Jennifer is spectacular.”
So, how did Lopez respond?
She was told how Affleck described her, to which she responded ‘thank you’ to the reporter at Unstoppable’s UK premiere, before being asked how she would describe his producing.
Responding, Lopez said: “I would describe all of the cast and everybody behind the scenes as spectacular and wonderful.”
Last month, the singer detailed her thoughts during an interview with comedian Nikki Glaser, and she didn’t hold back – likening their marriage to when a house ‘blows up’.
“You’re standing there in the rubble going, ‘How do I not ever let that happen again?’ And then you start examining it little by little saying, ‘OK, I did this, this was my part in it, this was what I should have seen early on, this is what I didn’t look at.’ Those things are what really are the lessons,” she said.
Her 52-year-old ex-hubby, on the other hand, has remained fairly tight-lipped.
