The artist shut down rumors with a statement on her Instagram
Pink has shut down rumors claiming she deleted all her tweets following Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ arrest.
Last week, Diddy was arrested and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He was denied bail by a judge twice and is expected to remain in custody until his trial, the date of which is still undetermined.
Following Diddy’s arrest, rumors began circulating online that some artist – including Usher and Pink – had cleared their Twitter accounts to hide any incriminating posts that could link them to the rapper’s case.
While Usher squashed the rumors earlier this week claiming he was hacked, Pink has recently set the record straight by posting a statement to her Instagram and Facebook pages.
“I don’t know why I became a headline this week, but I wiped my Twitter account on February 6,” the singer wrote.
“There is no truth to the rumors spread this week, and while I’ve met people in passing, I’m not associated with any of the people mentioned.”
She also posted a screenshot of a final tweet she wrote on February 6, where she said, “This account will self destruct in two minutes. Do it !!!!!!,” appearing to reinforce her claim that she wiped her account then.
Usher, who collaborated with Diddy on music in the past, faced a similar bout of rumors earlier this week when the majority of his tweets appeared to be suddenly deleted on September 22.
Some tweets that remained appeared to be cryptocurrency scams seemingly posted by a hacker.
When the R&B singer seemed to regain access to his Twitter account he wrote, “Account got hacked and damn y’all ran with it! See you tonight at Inuit Dome.”
Following Diddy’s arrest, his lawyer Marc Agnifilo said: “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the US Attorney’s Office.
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.
“To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Diddy could face 15 years behind bars if found guilty of all charges he’s facing.
UNILAD contacted Usher’s reps for comment on previous reports about his Twitter account.
