Donald Trump would be an 82-year-old at the start of the next election if he was to lose to Harris and stand again in 2028
The US currently has the oldest serving President in its 248-year history.
When the 46th President Joe Biden was elected back in January 2021, he was 78 years and 61 days old and by the time his term is up he’ll be 82 years and 61 days old.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is the oldest nominee for the Oval Office in history, and if he wins when voters get to the polls on November 5, he will be 156 days older at the end of his four years than Biden was at the end his term.
Biden is significantly older than every other former president, with Trump being the only other man to be in his 70s at the time of election.
But if Trump fails to convince voters who instead back the Democratic Party’s presidential hopeful, current Vice President Kamala Harris, would he stand again in 2028?
Well, if Trump hypothetically lost in November and stood and won the following election, he would be 82 years and 220 days old at his return to the White House – and 86 years and 220 days old when his term would come to an end.

Thankfully, Sinclair Broadcast Group journalist Sharyl Attkisson asked him that exact question during an interview on Friday at his home in Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida.
When posed the question, the 78-year-old replied: “No, I don’t. No, I don’t. I think that that will be, that will be it. I don’t see that at all. I think that hopefully we’re gonna be successful.”
While he claims he wouldn’t stand again, knowing the former president as we do, I’d be surprised if that was the case – but it all falls on this upcoming election.
Is it just me or is it weird to think of a future presidential election without Trump?
He’s ran for president four times in total, the first in 2000 for the Reform Party, then, of course, he won in 2016 for the Republicans, then in 2020 he lost to Biden and now we’ve got Trump versus Harris.
But maybe he is telling the truth, after all the man has faced two assassination attempts in the last three months, although I don’t think it has had an affect on him.
Yes, on July 13, Trump came within milliseconds of death after 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, from the slanted roof of a building just 150 meters to his right.
It resulted in the death of father-of-two volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore, and critically injured two others.
While just eight days ago (September 15), Ryan Wesley Routh, of Hawaii, was accused of going to the Trump International Golf Course in Florida armed with a rifle with the intention of killing the former president.
