A Florida judge ruled that the pair’s marriage is ‘irretrievably broken’ after Jonas filed for divorce from Turner in September 2023
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have finalised their divorce and officially ended their marriage.
A Florida judge ruled that the marriage was ‘irretrievably broken’ just over a year after Jonas filed for divorce on September 5 2023.
The pair posted a joint statement to their Instagram accounts confirming that they would be ending their four-year-long marriage.
In the statement, the pair said: “Statement from the two of us: ‘After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,'”
“There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”

The judge also permitted that Jonas, 35, and Turner, 28, to waive the waiting period of 20 days for the final judgement.
According to court documents, the judge said: “The marriage between the parties is dissolved and the parties are restored to the status of being single.”
In documents filed on September 21 2023, Turner claimed that the marriage had broken down ‘very suddenly’.
This allegedly happened following an argument that the pair had on August 15 2023.
She also claimed that she had found out about their separation ‘through the media’ days after Jonas filed for divorce.
According to the divorce filing, Jonas and Turner have a prenup in place.

The pair also made a temporary agreement that their children would remain in New York until they figured out a custody arrangement for them.
During this time, Turner also sued Jonas over wrongful retention of their daughters.
She claimed that Jonas was withholding the children’s passports and not allowing them to return to the UK, a claim she dropped in January 2024.
Turner spoke about the custody battle in May 2024 in an interview with British Vogue.
The Game of Thrones star revealed that she was ‘unhappy’ with how it had ‘played out’ regarding the couple’s children.
She said: “They’re the victims in all of this. But I think we’re doing the best we can. I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all that I can ask for.”
