Elite Star Julian Ortega, 41, Tragically Dies on Beach: Details

A Spanish actor known for his role in the popular Netflix series “Elite” has passed away while spending time at a beach in Cadiz.

Julian Ortega known for his roles in shows like “El Pueblo,” “Velvet,” and most recently “Elite,” tragically passed away after collapsing on Zahora Beach in Barbate, Cardiz, in Spain.

The 41-year-old Spanish actor collapsed at around 5:30 p.m. on August 25, 2024. His death was initially reported as a drowning, but it was later confirmed by emergency and lifeguard services that Ortega experienced a cardiorespiratory arrest while on shore.

Paramedics tried to revive him for half an hour. Despite their efforts, including the use of a defibrillator, they were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities noted that there were no signs of violence. The heartbreaking event unfolded in front of stunned beachgoers near La Calima beach bar, in Barbate, a town on the Atlantic coast.

Ortegas career began in theater after graduating from Madrids Royal School of Dramatic Art (RESAD). He then transitioned to television, where he gained recognition in several series, including “Elite.” He appeared in six episodes of the drama series.

The actor was also featured in numerous well-known Spanish-language shows, including “4 Estrellas,” “The Countryside,” “Untameable,” “Nunc et in Hora,” “Caronte,” and others.

Tributes have poured in for Ortega online from his co-stars and fans, who have sent love and strength to his family and friends. The Union of Actors and Actresses extended their deepest condolences to the actors family and friends.

Ortegas co-star Fernando Tejero said, “I am broken with pain, dear colleague… what a great actor and what a beautiful person you are, Julian Ortega… fly high, hugs to your father and mother.”

Silvia Marso was also heartbroken that her friend and talented actor, known for his integrity and kindness, had passed away. Marso described him as a remarkable colleague and person, reflecting the same qualities as his parents, actress Gloria Muñoz and actor Jose Antonio Ortega.

“I cant even imagine how these parents, colleagues, so beloved in the profession, are. How horrible… I cant take it in. Absolute sadness,” she added.

Ortega, who followed in his parents footsteps, had the opportunity to perform alongside his mother at the Spanish Theatre in the play “Ira,” a work he authored himself.

As tributes continue to pour in, its clear that Ortega was celebrated not only for his talent but also for his kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and admired him.
