Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas officially filed for divorce last September
Joe Jonas reportedly filed for divorce from his ex-wife Sophie Turner after hearing her spout some ‘not-so-nice’ sentiments on doorbell camera footage.
35-year-old Jonas and Turner, 28, announced their split last September in a joint statement posted to Instagram, citing an ‘amicable end’ to their four-year marriage.
The pair met in October 2016 after initially connecting on Instagram before tying the knot three years later in a Las Vegas wedding chapel.
A year after saying ‘I do’, the Joan star gave birth to the former couple’s eldest daughter Willa before welcoming their second child, Delphine in 2022.
Just months after Delphine was born, the Jonas Brothers singer filed for divorce from Turner, with sources claiming a conversation caught on a digital doorbell was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
An alleged source told US Weekly that the Game of Thrones favorite had been caught saying ‘some not-so-nice things about Jonas’ to a friend of hers.
“It wasn’t anything more than that, but that was the final straw,” they claimed.
“Nobody thought things would get this nasty between Joe and Sophie.
“Friends are hopeful they can be mature for the sake of the kids, but neither one is going to acquiesce to the other. This could go on for a very long time.”
The words allegedly spoken by Turner on the ring camera are still unknown to this day.
Following the pair’s joint split statement, Jonas appeared at the Los Angeles Dodger Stadium with his brothers where he admitted he’d experienced a ‘tough week’.
“I just wanna say, look, if you don’t hear it from these lips, don’t believe it. OK? Thank you everyone for your love and support. Me and my family love you guys,” he added.
On September 21, Turner filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband for ‘wrongful retention’ of their daughters.
As per People, the suit demanded ‘the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained’.
Court documents read that Jonas had ‘possession of the children’s passports’ and that he was ‘refusing to return the passports to the mother’.
It was also stated that Jonas and Turner had decided in conversation in December 2022 that England would become their ‘forever home’ and that the end of the couple’s marriage occurred ‘very suddenly’.
The divorce between Turner and her estranged husband was approved by Florida judge Gina Beovides.
The official also signed off a confidential settlement over splitting assets, spousal support and custody of their two daughters.
Beovides ruled the pair’s marriage as ‘irretrievably broken’, adding: “The marriage between the parties is dissolved and the parties are restored to the status of being single.”
