Singer Khalid forced to come out as gay after admitting he was ‘outed’

Khalid took to social media and insisted he hasn’t been hiding his sexuality

Khalid took to social media on Friday to open up about his sexuality after he was outed by an alleged former partner.

Singer Khalid doesn’t seem particularly fussed about people knowing his sexuality and insisted he hasn’t been hiding it.

In a bunch of posts on Twitter on November 22, the star simply said it really isn’t anyone’s business – which is fair enough.Khalid confirmed on Twitter that he was gay (Rebecca Sapp/Getty Images for The Recording Academy)

He wasn’t even going to address the issue until fellow singer Hugo Almonte allegedly outed Khalid with his own post on social media.

While speaking about the artists he has had sex with he wrote that ‘one of your favorite gay R&B singers’ once offered him drugs and ‘tried to set me up and lie that I broke into his house.’

He also followed this message up with a post saying: “Gay artists that are out right now are sh**** as f***.”

He then followed up a post by sharing a photo of himself and Khalid.

While Khalid hasn’t responded specifically to the comments by Almonte, he did confirm that he was gay on his own page.

Sharing an emoji of the LGBTQ+ pride flag, he added: “There yall go. Next topic please lol.”

He followed this up with a reply to a social media user saying: “I am [gay] and that’s okay.”

Khalid made it clear he wasn’t so fussed about the quickly moving discussion about his sexuality online.

He added: “I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me love yall.

“I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business.”

The singer even thanked a fan who defended him.Khalid explained he didn't think it was that big of a deal and insisted he was never hiding his sexuality(Rebecca Sapp/Getty Images for The Recording Academy)

The fan shared a snippet from his 2022 song Satellite and said: “Then there was the LGBTQ anthem he gave us in 2022 but ya’ll kinda slept. Either way. hate that Khalid was forced out but he wasn’t ‘hiding’ it. He just didn’t need to TELL nobody.”

Khalid simply commented thank you and reiterated that he wasn’t holding.

Speaking to Rolling Stones, Almonte said the reason for his post was to ‘share how he tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship,’ though did not name Khalid directly.

He added: “It’s crazy that these people said I was chasing clout, when I was holding onto this for five years, and I finally had enough.”
